Trade Talk

There is a word going around that a couple of players won't be a part of the Senators after Tuesday, the trade deadline, here's the scoop of whats going on with Antoine Vermette and Ray Emery:

Antoine Vermette #20

Left Wing
Age: 25
07-08 Salary: $1.075M

The Skinny: If the Senators get that high-profile rental player for the postseason, Vermette will be a heart-breaker to let go as part of the deal. He has shown great offensive instincts and at age 25 he still has plenty of time to mature and perfect his game. But he'll also become a restricted free agent in July. With Ottawa picking up Cory Stillman and Mike Commodore, the likelihood of Vermette moving is slim. - TSN

Ray Emery #1

Goaltender
Age: 25
07-08 Salary: $$3.167M

The Skinny: After another late practice last month, it looked like Emery's days with the Senators were numbered. That, coupled with other recent problems had GM Bryan Murray thinking trade, but the team appears to be moving forward with both Emery and Gerber platooning in goal. Emery, who signed a three-year, $9.5-million US contract in the summer, is a longshot at best to go. - TSN

Senators Roster Video (Version 2)

Here's the updated version of my Senators video:

Sens Envolved in 4 Player Deal

It's about time the Murray and the Senators took inchoative and shook up the roster. With Corvo and Patrick Eaves on their way to Carolina, the Sens get big D-man Mike Commodore and 2 time Stanley cup winner Cory Stillman for some depth and ledership up front. Commodore will be playing on a line with Wade Redden when Stillman will be on a line with Fisher. Commodore will take Patrick Eaves old #44 when Cory Stillman will keep his old #61. Commodore will add much needed defense to the Senators blueline, already saving a few goals in his first game and laying some big hits before fighting Clarkson from New Jersey in their recent loss. Stillman has gathered 2 assists in 3 games with Ottawa so far.
